PhoneGap development confusion
I've created an HTML offline website with data being stored in WebSQL and
works great. The next stage was to allow the use to take a photo and store
in the database. This is when I turned to PhoneGap. I've managed to create
the app I wanted, but with a few confusions.
I do not know any of the native languages to create apps, so thought
PhoneGap was a good solution ... yes?
My confusion is ...
I used let's say NotePad to create my HTML, CSS, JavaScript files and the
cpnfig.xml and zipped them up and used PhoneGap build to create the apps
for each platform. However, the documentation refers to things I don't
understand like "app/res/xml/config.xml". I don't have this file
structure, so what is it for?
Why would I use Eclipse and all those other plugins when NotePad has done
a good job. What am I missing out on?
What's the difference between PhoneGap and Cordova?
Clarification is what I need.
Future lies in the hands of cross platform app development. Businesses do not want to spend much on individual applications when they have better options to choose from.
